Potholes can be much more than just a nuisance. They can be dangerous to cyclists, motorbike riders and cause damage to car wheels. In the UK, there’s an average of one road defect for every 110 metres of road.

What can I do about a pothole I’ve seen?

Local councils have a duty to maintain the roads, but they can only fill a pothole if they know about it. If you want it repaired, you have to report it.Unnatended to, they can get big!

Essex County Council direct link is the easy way to report potholes and road defects. The Council should be quick to respond.

    Surface water ,could be a leak at the junction of Broadlands Road and Greensward Lane near zebra crossing.Been like it for months. can be dangerous if it freezes.
