Hockley Woods Car Park has recently undergone major changes, with a new surface, and parking meters installed. You now have to pay to park in Hockley Woods main car park. Charges are 20p per hour. Just wanted to say what a lovely site you have put together. It’s about time someone put together a few guided maps as I think this puts newcomers off coming to the woods. I know I was always telling people how to get back to the car park when I was in there lol. This is such a beautiful area, and I’m glad it’s being properly appreciated.

Your site is very good, however the pale grey is a little hard to read for those with poor eyesight
. I went for a walk with my dog today and felt I was getting lost. Wish I’d had your map to show me which way to go! It would be good for the council to put more way markers in and maybe route numbers. I enter near HMP and exit near Guidewoods so never see a map. It’s too dark to get directions from the sun but the atmosphere is beautiful.
Love your site. The photos are wonderful. I spend many hours and days walking and cycling through the woods and have masses of photos. It is amazing all year round. Thank you for taking the trouble to put this together.
Jenny i’m so glad you like it! This website is still very much in it’s infancy, and I welcome input from others who use the woods! My idea is to create something fun, useful to our community, and bring exposure to groups like dog walkers, ramblers, cyclists and equestrians.
It’s fun being ‘The Editor’ and gives me a reason to constantly strive to improve my amateur photography!
